We have an 80-year history and strong community ties
The two choral societies comprising Brentwood and Ingatestone Choral Society were both well-established and well-respected going back more than three-quarters of century. Many of our older members have been with us for decades, while others have joined us only recently. BICS is a friendly, local, non-auditioned mixed voice choir, rehearsing weekly in term time in Ingatestone United Reformed Church. We sing traditional choral repertoire as well as new choral works. We very much enjoy our singing and the informal social atmosphere of our rehearsals.
Our choirs‘ founders and beginnings
BCS was founded by Dr Edgar Brice in 1941 during WWII, and ICS in1948 by Elma Russell and Florence Tunbridge. After many successful years as separate choirs, we have merged to become BICS and hope to have many exciting years to come.
We welcome members at all skill levels…
Our Music Director and supportive members will help you, and before you know it you will be singing with confidence.
