MUSIC DIRECTOR: ART WANGCHAROENSAB

Art Wangcharoensab is a multifaceted musician, composer, and conductor whose work spans choral, orchestral, and educational settings. A graduate of the Royal College of Music, he serves as Assistant Music Director of Brentwood Cathedral, directing the Cathedral Music Group; Assistant Director of Music at New Hall School; and Music Director of the Brentwood & Ingatestone Choral Society. He has performed in major UK venues including the Royal Albert Hall, the Royal Festival Hall, Westminster Cathedral, and Trinity College Chapel, Cambridge.

He is a strong advocate for contemporary classical music and actively promotes crossover repertoire that draws on jazz and musical cultures from around the world. His conducting work includes Karl Jenkins’ The Peacemakers, Martín Palmeri’s Misa a Buenos Aires, John Rutter’s Gloria, and Alice Mary Smith’s Symphony in C minor at Chelmsford Cathedral, alongside a wide range of liturgical and concert repertoire. He is also a committed supporter of local community music-making, encouraging as many people as possible to enjoy singing, and is a dedicated champion of music education, continually seeking new ways to provide opportunities for young musicians.

As a composer, Art’s work blends colour, clarity, and cultural depth. His pieces include a Missa Brevis written for the centenary of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brentwood and premiered at Brentwood Cathedral, as well as Requiem Pro Rege Mortuo, composed in memory of the late King of Thailand, HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

ACCOMPANIST: DOMINIC BENTHAM

DOMINIC BENTHAM (DipABRSM), our accompanist, is a pianist based in SE London. He graduated with a BMus(Hons) in piano performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in Greenwich, under the tuition of Canadian pianist, Douglas Finch. As well as playing for several choirs and choral societies, Dominic was recently appointed director of the St Michael’s Junior Choir, a free choir for children in Blackheath. Dominic is a keen improviser and particularly relishes his role as music director of “The Improvesarios” – devising operas on the spot and spreading chaos around the UK fringe festival circuit.
